Last year was the most successful year of fundraising by African tech startups, according to the Disrupt Africa African Tech Startups Funding Report, with the continent’s startups raising in excess of US$195 million.

Two South African startups made the top 10; IoT.nxt, a IOT based startup which received US $ 7.7 million from Talent Holdings and WeThinkCode, a free programming and coding training programme which aims to close the tech skills shortage in Africa, which raised US $ 4.49 million from BCX.
Nigeria came ahead with the most number of startups in the top 10, followed by Kenya and South Africa, however PEG, a Ghana-based clean tech startup raised the biggest investment amount.
