New stores will launch in Johannesburg’s Eastgate Shopping Centre and Pretoria’s Brooklyn Mall.
“Being able to offer the Starbucks experience to new communities is always an exciting journey for us. We have an eager team of partners ready to serve the Brooklyn and Eastgate communities,” says Carlo Gonzaga, CEO of Taste Holdings.
In a media release Starbucks says they are committed to developing young people into industry-leading baristas and the store teams have been recruited form underserved communities through Taste’s Changing Lanes programme, which focuses on giving opportunities to currently unemployed youth.
Both stores will offer the full Starbucks experience including the Starbucks core range of 100% Arabica coffee, a fresh food selection, a range of Teavana teas and free high-speed Wi-Fi.
