Introduction

Sage promises that you don’t need any experience to use their cloud accounting software. Using the software you are also able to keep on top of the latest legislation (and remain compliant). They also ensure safety with their bank-level security. 

They offer three plans, which all include the tools you need to manage your finances, including invoicing, cash flow management, VAT trackingonline payments and more, from any device – PC, tablet or phone.

You can change, cancel or upgrade your plan at any time. You can also ask for a full refund if you have purchased software and decide it’s not the right fit for your business.

Main Features

Sage Business Cloud Accounting Start
This plan is for sole traders and micro-businesses. It includes the following standard features:

  • Income and expense tracking
  • Professional quotes and invoices
  • Bank account integration
  • Online payments
  • Collaboration with your accountant (optional)

Sage Business Cloud Accounting Standard
This plan includes all the features of the Start plan, plus key additions for growing businesses:

  • VAT calculation and submission
  • Up to 5 users (the base package includes 2 users and 1 company)
  • Inventory management (basic stock tracking)
  • You can now add more users, companies, and advanced features as separate, paid add-ons.

Sage Business Cloud Accounting Start

  • From R220 per month (including VAT) or an annual price that includes a discount.
  • Users: Single user.
  • Ideal for: Sole traders, freelancers, and micro-businesses.

Sage Business Cloud Accounting Standard

  • From R400 per month (including VAT) for two users, with the option to add more users for an additional fee.
  • Users: Supports 2 to 5 users.
  • Ideal for: Growing small businesses that need more advanced features.

Sage Business Cloud Payroll

  • The “Standard PLUS Payroll” bundle seems to have been replaced or rebranded. Payroll is now typically offered as a separate product, Sage Business Cloud Payroll, with a pay-per-employee pricing model. The cost is based on the number of employees you need to manage.
  • Users: It supports unlimited companies and users.
  • Pricing: Pricing is tiered based on the number of employees. For example, a monthly cost for 1-2 employees is around R83.
