This #BlackFridaySMEs will use the opportunity to leverage off the global hype to not only boost cashflow, but some will also use the holiday season shopping frenzy to market themselves, display their creativity and even give back.

Here is how some SMEs are participating in this year’s #BlackFriday

SWEEPSOUTH, an online on-demand home cleaning service
This #BlackFridaySweepSouth will  be celebrating in a very different way, instead of giving their customers discounts, they will be using the day to give back to the domestic cleaners registered on their platform at no additional cost to their customers. Domestic cleaners will receive an extra 50% pay for every hour they work for all bookings using the promo code GIVEBACKFRIDAY.

The online coffee platform will be continuing their annual Black Friday tradition this year. In addition to a week of discounts, they are encouraging their customers to take a picture of their black coffees (latte-art-free) on the day and tag it #drinkitblackfriday.

SWIITCHBEAUTYSouth African make-up brand
The beauty brand is calling the day Pink Friday. They are also encouraging customers to sign up to their mailing list in order to receive updates on what they are calling their “biggest beauty sale ever”, which will include discounts of up to 50% off. The specials will start at 12AM on Friday, 24 November and will be valid the entire weekend.

Nic Harry will be giving 40% off all their merchandise in store and online from 22 November until 24 November. They will also be giving an additional 10% off to customers who subscribe to their newsletter.

FAMILY TREE STORE, clothing label and store by hip hop artist, Cassper Nyovest 
Family Tree Store will be offering a whopping 60% off on selected items in their store, which is located in Newtown Junction in Johannesburg. The store sells designs by Nyovest, as well as merchandise by South African hip hop singer, Nadia Nakai, and Malawian-born record producer and singer, Gemini Major.
