It’s ‘Support Local’ week on SME South Africa. We are showcasing local makers and designers who are behind many beautiful (and delicious) 100% local South African products. This is the food and drinks edition for local small businesses worth supporting.

Have Wings

Located in the trendy Johannesburg suburb of Melville, Have Wings, specialises in wings in a variety of flavours.

Okubabayo

This food manufacturing company was established in 2015 and produces, what they call, “Mzansi’s favourite atchar”. Their mango atchar is available in four flavour variants.

YoCoco

YoCoco is artisanal ice cream company that uses locally-sourced ingredients to make their ice creams.  The founder is Kwa-Zulu Natal-based entrepreneur, Sinenhlanhla Ndlela.

Nana’s Bites

This snack company produces small batch baked goodies which are made using fresh and simple ingredients and no preservatives.

Corner Dladla Pizzeria

This establishment offers the wood-fired oven pizza experience to Soweto locals and was established in 2017.

PotjieGuy

PotjieGuy is a catering business specialising in the iconic South African dish, potjiekos. The meals are delivered to your home, they also offer the potjiekos experience with meals prepared onsite.

Makhamisa Foods

Offering a wide range of sauces and relishes, this condiment manufacturer hopes to immerse consumers in a “Loudly African” experience. Their product offering includes sauces and pickled vegetables.

Mokgalaka Creations

Mokgalaka Creations specialises in custom-made cakes for special occasions including weddings, birthdays, baby and bridal showers. They also produce other baked goods like bread, rolls, choc brownies, scones and muffins and they offer catering services also.

Monate Coffee

The Monate Coffee range includes coffee beans, ground coffee and capsules. The coffee beans are sourced from Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. Their products are available in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. They can also be found at various festivals countrywide.

Botebo Wines

Tebogo Ditsebe, a wine farmer from the Free State is the founder and winemaker behind Botebo Wines. They produce Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chenin Blanc and Rose wines.

Skyrule Twyst

Skyrule Drinks is a beverages company that manufactures a sparkling juice range. Tembisa-based entrepreneur, Sammy Mhaule, is the founder of the company.

Slush Dolls

This brand offers a variety of slush flavours served with a twist. They can be found at food markets across the country like CookOutSundays, Tshwane Food Fest and the Kasi Food and Drink Festival.

YaMama Gemmer

YaMama Gemmer makes traditional homemade ginger beer in the form of beer concentrate and ready to drink ginger beer. The drinks are made using natural ingredients and are without preservatives and other additives.

Kgarose Kgaros

Sweet potato yogurt manufacturing company, Kgarose Kgaros, is based in Limpopo and produces a variety of flavours for yogurt lovers who want to maintain a healthy lifestyle and anyone seeking dessert alternatives.
