Introduction

Legacy brand Old Mutual has been offering financial services in South Africa since 1845. The company provides financial solutions to individuals, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), and corporates in South Africa, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

To further help local SMEs, the company developed a digital solutions platform called, SMEgo. SMEgo is an all-in-one digital channel aimed at helping SMEs with managing revenue, access to funding, and business insurance. The platform is free to use and available on Web, Android and iOS.

Plans and Features 

Featured on the platform is a range of plans including the Basic plan, Premium plan, and the Premium plus plan. A business funding solution, referral programme and business insurance solutions are also part of the platform’s offerings.

The plans feature a range of accounting tools designed to help SMEs manage their revenue streams easily. Users can create unlimited invoices, quotes, credit notes, purchase orders, delivery notes, and customer statements. The invoices can be edited, set up to be recurring and automatically sent to clients via email.

Funding

Under the funding tab, the platform allows SME owners to apply for funding to multiple lenders at once. Funding is up to R20 million.

Referral Programme 

SMEgo also has a referral programme that gives users cash back when they refer a new business to the SMEgo platform. The business must be signed up to either the Premium or Premium plus plans for two consecutive months.

There are three plans on the SMEgo platform. Users can change from one plan to another or downgrade to the basic platform anytime.

Basic plan – Free (one user included)

  • Record full or partial payments against invoices.
  • Create up to 5 invoices per month.

  • Generate up to 2 customer statement of accounts per month.

Premium plan – R99.99 p/m (Only 2 users included. You can add up to 4 users). All basic feature plus:

  • Create unlimited invoices.
  • Create up to 10 quotes a month.
  • Create up to 10 delivery notes per month.
  • Create up to 10 purchase orders per month.
  • Generate up to 10 customer statement of accounts per month.
  • Get a credit score for your business.
  • Add unlimited products/services and customers/suppliers.

Premium Plus plan – R299.99 p/m (Only 5 users included. You can add up to 20 users). All Premium features plus:

  • Create unlimited invoices.
  • Create unlimited quotes.
  • Create unlimited credit notes.
  • Create unlimited delivery notes.
  • Create unlimited purchase orders.
  • Create unlimited customer statement of accounts.

Funding 

To improve your chances of getting your funding application approved, your business should have:

  • A minimum annual turnover of R500 000.
  • A track record of at least 6 months.
  • Registration documents and bank and financial statements.

*Business insurance is available for R249 per month.

SMEgo uses world-class security protocols. All the information you provide or create on the platform is private and fully protected.

Yes, as part of the invoice creation feature, you can add your customer’s email address in order to send an email directly with the invoice attached as a PDF.

Old Mutual has partnered with finance provider TruID. TruID enables consented and secure access to bank data to facilitate sharing of information, such as your bank statements.

There is no limit as to how many businesses you can refer using your referral link. The more people you refer, the more cash back.
