Yaseen Khan, CEO of EMGuidance.

South African health startup EMGuidance won the Healthcare Prize powered by the Merck Group at the fifth edition of the Seedstars Summit which took place last week in Lausanne, Switzerland.

EMGuidance solves a critical problem for medical professionals by aggregating medical content from regional experts in one app.

They beat five other finalists from across the globe in the Med tech & Biotech category.

“The Seedstars Health Tech prize is a global recognition and spotlight on the significant health system problems that exist in the developing and emerging markets, and that ground-up technology enabled healthcare solutions, provided they have the right innovative business models and outlook towards private sector partnership and involvement, are trusted to be economically viable, scalable and can address widespread need across healthcare systems,” Founder and CEO at EMGuidance, Yaseen Khan, told eHealthNews.

The startup will have the opportunity to join the Merck Accelerator with financial support of up to EUR50 000 (about R745 000) and office space at the Merck Innovation Centre, mentoring and coaching.
