Hello, my name is Nonkululeko Williams and I am the founder and CEO of Luminous Era, a proudly South African sun care brand created specifically for melanin-rich skin. I started Luminous Era after experiencing first-hand how people with deeper skin tones were excluded in the beauty industry and struggled to find SPF that did not leave a white cast or feel heavy on the skin. Today, our flagship product is a lightweight, broad-spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen that blends seamlessly into darker complexions while helping to prevent sunburn, hyperpigmentation and premature ageing, using eco‑friendly ingredients and recyclable packaging.

With more than six years of entrepreneurial experience, I am building a purpose‑driven business that is rooted in community, inclusion and education about sun protection for all skin tones. Luminous Era has already completed feasibility and desirability studies through the 54 Collective Entrepreneur Academy, secured over 50 sales with repeat customers in under 500 days, and is now expanding into retail partnerships and a broader SPF range, including hand lotion and lip care. My vision is to grow Luminous Era into Africa’s leading melanin-inclusive sun care brand, creating jobs locally while ensuring that people with melanin-rich skin feel seen, valued and confidently protected every day.
