There are two principles to quality assurance. One is ‘fit for purpose’, meaning the product or service meets its intended purpose. The other is “right first time,” in which any mistakes are immediately addressed.
The goal of the two principles is to make the product or service work all the time correctly through the management of project constraints. To ensure that happens, quality assurance involves the management of the quality of raw materials, assemblies, products and components; services related to production; and the management, production and inspection process.

Packaging Requirements

  • Use the appropriate packaging type based on the product’s characteristics and requirements.
  • Ensure sufficient protection to prevent any damage or breakage during handling and transportation.
  • Select packaging suitable for shipping and long-term storage to maintain product quality and integrity.

Defect Classification

  • Identify potential defects to ensure accurate assessment and resolution.
  • Implement an appropriate classification system for each type of defect, allowing for efficient tracking and prioritisation.
  • Establish clear procedures and guidelines for handling specific types of defects to promote consistency and effective resolution.

On-Site Checks and Tests

  • Create a comprehensive list of necessary on-site checks and tests for each product, including quality control, functionality testing and safety standards.
  • Specify the types of tests to be performed and assign responsible staff or employees to carry out the inspection.
  • Provide the names of the assigned personnel responsible for conducting the checks and tests.

Collaboration with Supplier, Importer and QA Staff

  • Establishing a regular schedule for conducting thorough quality checks and tests is crucial for maintaining high standards.

Automation through technology does not replace your QA checklist. Automation executes checklist items faster and more consistently than any human can at scale. The most effective way to integrate automation into your QA is to map it directly to checklist line items:
