CID Home Repairs and Services is a South African business making home repairs and property maintenance easier to organise. It connects homeowners, tenants and property managers with vetted independent contractors, bringing service requests, communication and job progress together through one platform.
Founded by Lwanda Gumede, CID was built around a practical goal: to make reliable maintenance more accessible while helping skilled tradespeople build stronger businesses. The company combines technology with an understanding of the challenges customers and contractors face when organising repair and maintenance work.
CID’s services include plumbing, electrical work, painting, cleaning, gardening, pest control, handyman repairs, construction, moving and solar services. Whether customers need an everyday repair or support with a larger project, the company focuses on clear communication, convenient coordination and accountability.
Alongside its home services offering, CID provides a maintenance management solution for student accommodation. The system helps property managers receive and approve maintenance requests, assign contractors, monitor progress and maintain service records in one place, reducing administration and improving the coordination of repairs.
Supporting local entrepreneurship is central to CID’s purpose. Many skilled contractors have the ability to deliver quality work but struggle to reach customers and manage the administration that comes with running a business. CID aims to help these professionals gain visibility, build trusted customer relationships and access more consistent work opportunities.
As it prepares for the public launch of its mobile application, CID is working towards a more connected maintenance experience that helps customers care for their properties while giving South African service businesses greater opportunities to grow.
