General Information

 hold a BA degree majoring in Anthropology, Language and Communication in Society and Psychology (University of the Western Cape) as well as an Anthropology Honours degree focused on medical anthropology (University of the Western Cape). The pursuit of my Masters in Philosophy on Trans-disciplinary health and Development (Stellenbosch University) is currently on hold due to funding. Having had ten years of experience in social science public health research spaces and interacting in these contexts and intersections, my driving factor has always been where I can be an instrumental tool in the environment of research and beyond. As a young black queer woman researcher in South Africa, existing in my own intersectionalities, where I am both subject and conduit of knowledge.

My academic interests lie within key population groups, women, children, LGBTIQ+ and adolescents and how they access, navigate, create and exist in certain health spaces as well as a keen interest in non and communicable diseases. My practical experience in research is focused more on qualitative fields of research within public health and the social sciences overall, as well as with market research, certain aspects of quantitative research are possible too.

Although recently new in a management role as a study coordinator (4 years) – I have managed data collectors in field teams, (in charge of them completing project requirements as per SOP), conducted mixed methods data collection, managed data, analyzed it, written reports showcasing the data in various forms such as PowerPoint or regional reports and been part of disseminations, managed study budgets and all communication liaison and administration as well as planned and participated in stakeholder engagements amongst other things.

Recently due to a new role, I have broaden my skillset to include facilities management praxis, I am interested in residential-to-commercial conversion and what those look like in a sensitive research setting/site and how we can apply sustainability ethos to them.
