Brief Biography: Mr Tshepo Magabane

Mr Tshepo Magabane is an experienced South African education executive, academic and higher-education quality assurance specialist, and the Chief Executive Officer of IT Certification Academy (ITCA), a position he assumed in 2023.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Biblical & Religious Studies (1995), Higher Diploma in Education (1996), Bachelor of Education Honours (1997), and Master of Education in Educational Policy Analysis, Management and Administration (1999), all from the University of the Western Cape.

Mr Magabane has extensive experience spanning higher education, academic governance, accreditation, regulatory affairs, institutional management and educational policy. His previous positions include Deputy Director at the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC), Acting Director and Project Manager at the Council on Higher Education (CHE), and Assistant Director for Accreditation at the HEQC. He subsequently served for approximately 11 years as Director and Group Head at CTI and Pearson Institute, gaining substantial experience in private higher education leadership and institutional management.

As CEO of ITCA, Mr Magabane provides strategic and executive leadership focused on academic excellence, quality assurance, industry relevance, institutional growth and expanding access to technology and skills development. Under his leadership, ITCA continues to strengthen its partnerships with industry, government and community stakeholders while positioning itself as a contributor to South Africa’s digital skills development and socio-economic transformation.

His leadership has also received recognition for its contribution to community development. In 2026, he received a Special Award at the Bohlabela District Excellence Awards in recognition of his leadership, commitment to development and contribution to local communities through education.
