Professional Biography – Collen Mthusi Tsheoga

Collen Mthusi Tsheoga is a Labour Relations Consultant, Business Analyst and Workforce Management professional with extensive experience spanning the financial services, customer service, business analysis and employee relations environments.

Collen began his professional career in 2002 and has built a diverse career across organisations including African Bank, Standard Bank, ACSA and the SPAR Group, gaining valuable experience in sales, debt collection, customer service, credit management, workforce management and business analysis.

His most significant professional experience was with African Bank, where he worked from 2011 to 2019 in various roles, including Sales Consultant, Sales Supervisor, Workforce Management Real-Time Administrator, and Business Analyst and Insurance Process & Systems Support Coordinator. In these roles, he developed strong capabilities in business process improvement, workforce optimisation, stakeholder management, data analysis, systems support and operational performance.

Alongside his professional career in the financial sector, Collen developed extensive experience in labour relations and employee representation. From 2014 to 2019, he served as a Shop Steward with SASBO – The Finance Union, representing employees in grievance and disciplinary matters and facilitating communication between employees and management. He also served as a Collective Bargaining Negotiator, participating in salary and benefits negotiations involving more than 2,000 employees, as well as retrenchment consultations and Section 197 transfer processes.

He further served as Chairperson of the SASBO Midrand Branch Executive Committee from 2016 to 2019 and as Secretary of the Employment Equity Committee, contributing to Employment Equity planning, policy implementation and compliance with the Employment Equity Act.

In 2021, Collen established Mpatametse Mthusi Labour Consultancy (MMLC), where he currently serves as Labour Relations Consultant. Through MMLC, he provides advisory services relating to employee relations, labour law compliance, disciplinary hearings, grievance processes, misconduct, poor performance and incapacity matters.

His professional strengths include labour law compliance, employee relations, disciplinary processes, grievance handling, mediation and conflict resolution, collective bargaining, policy development, research and analysis, workforce planning, business analysis and stakeholder management. He also has experience with tools and systems including Advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, NICE IEX, Calabrio, Verint, Aspect and Genesys WFM.

Collen holds qualifications and certificates in Labour Relations Management, Business Analysis, Advanced Business Analysis, Sales and Marketing Management, Microsoft SQL Server and Lean Six Sigma, among others.

He is passionate about fair labour practices, employee representation, workplace justice and practical solutions to workplace challenges. His unique combination of trade union experience, financial-sector knowledge, business analysis and labour relations expertise enables him to bridge the gap between employees, management and organisational objectives.
