Sophy Litshani Musabeni is the Founder and Managing Director of Vhegies Pty Ltd, a South African agribusiness committed to sustainable vegetable production, agro-processing, food security, and rural economic development. A visionary entrepreneur, she has transformed Vhegies into a trusted supplier of high-quality fresh produce to leading retailers, including Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, SPAR, and Food Lover’s Market, while also expanding exports to several Southern African countries.

Driven by a passion for empowering communities through agriculture, Sophy has created employment opportunities for women and young people while supporting emerging farmers through skills development, mentorship, and market access. Under her leadership, Vhegies has adopted modern farming technologies and food safety standards to produce quality vegetables that meet both local and international market requirements.

Her outstanding leadership has earned national recognition through numerous prestigious awards, including the 2023 Overall Winner – New Entrant to Commercial Farming, the 2023 Toyota New Harvest Farmer of the Year Award, the 2025 Overall Winner – Women Entrepreneur Awards presented by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the 2025 Township Economy Award, and First Place in the Access Bank Womenpreneur Competition.

Sophy has also represented South Africa on international agricultural development programmes, including specialized training in vegetable cultivation and processing technologies in China and executive business development training in Germany. These experiences have strengthened her commitment to innovation, sustainable farming, value addition, and expanding export opportunities for South African agriculture.

Today, Sophy continues to champion inclusive agricultural growth by building resilient food systems, creating jobs, empowering women in business, and inspiring the next generation of agricultural entrepreneurs.
